Renegades make roster moves

Ottawa releases three; Officially adds two Americans and veteran Canadian to roster

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Renegades Football Club made the following transactions on Tuesday, June 21, 2005.

The Renegades released:

Canadian defensive lineman Adrian Baird
American wide receiver Curtis Jackson
American linebacker D'Wayne Taylor

The Renegades signed:

Canadian defensive back Greg Bearman
American wide receiver Frank Cutolo
American linebacker Robert Grant

Bearman, 29, is a four-year CFL veteran who enters his third year with the Renegades. The Richmond, B.C. native was with the team in training camp, released last Friday and then re-signed on Monday to add experience and depth to the Ottawa secondary.

The 26-year-old Cutolo, who was with the B.C. Lions the past two seasons, was claimed off waivers over the weekend and takes Jackson's spot in the receiving corps. Cutolo was the west division nominee for rookie of the year in 2003.

Grant, 24, is a product of University of Hawaii and played for present Renegades defensive coordinator Greg Marshall in Edmonton the last two seasons. In 33 games, Grant registered nine interceptions, five quarterback sacks and 95 tackles during the pair of years spent with the Eskimos.

The Renegades open the 2005 regular season in Edmonton on Friday, June 24 against the Eskimos - a game nationally televised on TSN. The Renegades open the home part of the 2005 regular season schedule on Canada Day when Ottawa hosts the Montreal Alouettes. The July 1st game kicks off at 6 p.m. at Frank Clair Stadium.
