Ottawa Renegades News Release

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Renegades are putting their best feet forward in the battle against breast cancer.

After a short walk-through morning practice on Sept. 7, the eve of the team's home game against the B.C. Lions, Renegades players will step up for the cause and into a basin of pink paint before stamping their footprints on an oversized canvas that will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Renegades join an eclectic group of celebrity "painters" that includes Prime Minister Paul Martin and his wife, Sheila, Deputy Police Chief Sue O'Sullivan, NAC cellist Amanda Forsyth, Daniel Alfredsson and the Ottawa Senators, plus a long list of others.

The paintings will be auctioned on Sept. 14 at the Metropolitain Brasserie during the launch party for the 2005 edition of the CIBC Run for the Cure. The Run itself takes place Oct. 2 on Parliament Hill.

The short-term aim of CBCF campaign is to raise funds and awareness. The long-term goal is to create a future without breast cancer. That's why the Renegades are leading the charge.
