RENEGADES SALUTE THE CANADIAN FORCES DURING FRIDAY NIGHT'S GAME

The Ottawa Renegades invite you to come out and cheer your team as they take on the B.C. Lions this Friday August 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Frank Clair Stadium. They also want you to salute the men and women who serve our nation – The Canadian Forces.

"It is with great pleasure that the Renegades are taking this opportunity to salute the men and women who protect our country and who have served us overseas, particularly in the War on Terrorism," said Renegades president Brad Watters. "The soldiers, sailors and airmen are excellent examples of what teamwork is all about."

Members of the Canadian Forces will be on hand in static and interactive displays, beginning at 5 p.m. This includes a Leopard C2 tank, a LAV III, an Observation Post, pipers and bandsmen. During the half-time show, a parachutist from the Canadian Forces Parachute Team, the SkyHawks, will jump from a Griffon helicopter onto the field, while a rappel team shimmies over the North Side stands and the Army Tug-of-War team competes on the field.

Lieutenant-Colonel Pat Stogran, who commanded the Canadian Battle Group in Afghanistan, will do the ceremonial kick-off. He will be joined by Commander Tom Tulloch and Lieutenant-Colonel Bruce Cooke. All served in key leadership positions as part of Canada's contribution to the War on Terrorism.

In the off season, Renegades linebacker Jason Kralt is a sergeant with the Governor General Footguards. He has done a tour of duty in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia and recently worked as a recruiter here in Ottawa.
