Renegades Fan Notes

February 25, 2008 - SPHL (SPHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release

CONGRATULATIONS to the boys..........as they took two monkeys off their back this past Saturday night in Huntsville. They stopped our losing skid and they won for the very first time in Huntsville. As always seems to happen, a player that you trade comes back to haunt you. In this case former Huntsville Havoc, Trevor Karasiewicz came back to haunt his former team as he scored the only shootout goal to win the game for the Renegades. And Jay Chrapala kept the Renegades in the game especially in overtime when he stopped a breakaway and stoned all five Havoc players in the shootout! Great teamwork guys!

********************

The old man still has it..........that being Coach Brian Goudie just to be clear. Recently a speed gun was brought to a Renegades practice to see just who had the hardest slapshot. The slap shots and gun were all verified by John Packett, the Times Dispatch sports writer who has covered the Renegades for several years. Donald Melnyk's 98 MPH slapshot seemed to be the winner until Coach Goudie laid into one that ripped toward the net and was timed at.........104 MPH!! Just to put that in perspective, the winner of this year's NHL Skills Contest Fastest Shot won with a slapshot timed at 103.1 MPH. Coach Goudie beat that! Keep it up and he may be back putting the fear back into SPHL goalies.

The Renegades have a few more openings...........for contestants in our MISS RICHMOND RENEGADES contest. First prize is $500 plus merchandise prizes from many fine Richmond area stores.
