Renegades Fan Notes

January 4, 2008 - SPHL (SPHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release

DECISIONS.....DECISIONS.....DECISIONS.....do I stay home and watch the Redskins game on TV this Saturday and miss my beloved Renegades or do I go see the Renegades and miss my Redskins game? That's a hard one.......or should I say WAS a hard one.

Thanks to a FANtastic idea by Tracy Hynes and great cooperation with the Coliseum you can do both. The Coliseum will open their Leigh Street doors this Saturday at 4 PM to allow our fans to watch the Redskins game in the Coliseum Club. The Redskins game starts at 4:30 PM. The Coliseum Club has state of the art flat screen TVs. The Club will have the bar open and will serve light snacks. At 6:30 PM the buffet will be served (menu below) and when the Redskins game is all over you can walk right out and watch your Renegades in action. You need a Renegades ticket to enter and you can get one at our office Saturday.

So you can now eat your cake and have it too! Renegades, Redskins, buffet and beverages without moving more than a few feet. See you Saturday!

Player changes aplenty..........have been happening around the Renegades locker room in the past week.

Denis Sicard was injured in the game in Winston-Salem on December 26th and he had surgery to put a screw in the broken bone in his right wrist this afternoon. It all went very well and Denis is back at the apartments relaxing and looking forward to playing again.

AJ Bucchino had to go home unexpectedly to attend the funeral of his grandmother. He is expected to return in time for Saturday's game at the Coliseum.

Danny White left for Slovenia last Sunday with his girlfriend. We all wish him well.

Mat Goody is 1/3 of the way through his 12 game suspension and will return to action January 26th.

Dan Hickman, a forward/defenseman has signed a five game tryout contract with the Renegades and will play tonight in Huntsville. Dan came to the Renegades by way of the ECHL Reading Royals.

Ryan Honick will be the emergency backup goaltender for the Renegades while on the road trip. If his name seems familiar to you, Ryan filled in when Doug Groenestege was injured last season.

Christian Read, a 6' 195# forward was recommended to us by Princeton Head Coach and former Renegade, Guy Gadowsky. Christian was scheduled to be in the Renegades training camp this fall.

Trevor Karasiewicz was obtained over the weekend in a trade with Huntsville. His statistics are available online. Trevor will play tonight in Huntsville but due to prior commitments, not on Friday or Saturday.

It's WHITE jersey night this Saturday..........and it will be the only time the Renegades will wear their whites on any day but Wacky White Wednesdays. We play 5 Wednesday games and after the final Wednesday game the white jerseys will be auctioned off. These jerseys are Coach Goudie's favorites.

********************

This Saturday is SkateNation Plus Night..........with the first 3,000 fans over the age of 7 receiving a free pass for a Lazer Tag Mission at the Short Pump SkateNation Plus. During the intermissions, there will be youth hockey and figure skating demonstrations. Our favorite sweetheart, BRIA KELLY, will be singing the Canadian and American national anthems. If you haven't heard Bria you are really in for a treat!

********************

The switch is on..........to wearing our home jerseys at home. The SPHL has every team wear their road jerseys at home and their home jerseys on the road until January 1st when they revert back to wearing home at home. Now you will have an opportunity to see all of the other team's road jerseys. Great idea.

******************** Our Wacky White Wednesday games start..........next week on the 9th and here's a great way to get some free beer! Bring your group, fraternity, sorority, business or organization as a group to a Wacky White Wednesday game. The group who has the most paid members, over 100, at each Wacky White Wednesday game will have a FREE KEG PARTY at a future Renegades game! Group rates are as low as $ 8 without the $ 1 FSC. That's a great deal and you could win a keg party. The Richmond Coliseum is sponsoring each Wacky White Wednesday game and will provide beer for only $2 and hot dogs for only $1. You can't miss these Wacky White Wednesday games. Wear white!

Trevor Senn says a HUGE THANKS..........to all his fans for making his jersey retirement night so very memorable. I think it's right back at ya Trevor......thanks for the memories.

********************

We're going to be all quacked up next Saturday..........when CarPool sponsors the game between your Renegades and the Knoxville IceBears. The first 1,500 fans receive a duck courtesy of CarPool. There will be a buffet in the Coliseum Club and we will post that menu when it is received.

********************

Did you know you could win $325 for only $1..........at the Bill Crumpton Fire-a-Tire? That's right! There is a progressive jackpot that increases every game by $25 and this Saturday it will be up to $325. All you need to do is get your tire in the container that MC Doug Hynes will show you and the cash is all yours. So make sure you buy at least one Fire-a-Tire at every home game. If no-one wins the cash this game then next Wednesday the jackpot will be worth $350!

********************

Are you still waiting in line..........to purchase tickets before every Renegades game? You can avoid that wait by calling the Renegades office any day and up until 5 PM on game day and make your purchase by phone. Your tickets will be placed at the 7th Street WILL CALL window with Michelle and all you need to do is walk up and show her your ID. It's as simple as that and you can forget about lines.

********************

We're going to the dogs again on Friday, February 1st..........but this time our almost famous dog races will be open to all comers! That's right this race won't be restricted to just the wiener dogs but to all breeds. The only catch is the dog cannot weigh more than 12 pounds and your pet dog must have a current rabies vaccination plus a current dog license for where you live. Your dog's shot records will need to be brought with you in case there are any questions. We will have a scale available for the weigh-in so get your poochie in shape and be a participant in the "MUTTS TO YOU" night. To register your dog, simply call the Renegades office at 644-7825 or send an email to info@rrenegades.com. Register early!

********************

HOOTERS will be sponsoring a wing eating contest..........at an upcoming Richmond Renegades game. Registration forms will be available only at the three local HOOTERS locations in approximately ten days so keep checking for the forms, prize list and additional information.

********************

STOOL PIGEONS in Shockoe Bottom..........will be giving away 400 calendars at this Saturday's game. To get a free calendar drop by our merchandise stand located on the main concourse behind section 12L.

********************

Meet SLUDGE and ABE from Y101's The Morning Sludge..........on Wednesday, January 16th when Sludge will be replacing Mike Levay as the Renegades announcer for that game. Sludge and Abe are huge (RED ICE!!!) Renegades fans and you can frequently hear Renegades personalities on his show.
