Richmond Renegades News Release

The Richmond Renegades announced late today that Head Coach John Brophy has been suspended by the SPHL for one game which will be served on Wednesday, December 27th when the Renegades host the Fayetteville FireAntz at the Richmond Coliseum. The suspension comes as a result of Brophy receiving a Game Misconduct and a Gross Misconduct during last Saturday's game in Fayetteville which the Renegades won 5-4 in a shootout. Brophy had previously received a Game Misconduct during a November game against the Florida Seals.

"Although I disagree with both of the misconducts given to John on Saturday night we need to put it all behind us and focus on the upcoming game," stated Allan B. Harvie, Jr., team President and GM. "I received the same misconducts as John and we are puzzled as to the reasons. However, the league has made their ruling and we will respect and abide by it. I have asked for the game tape to be reviewed and they have agreed to do so although it will not change any"

Harvie, who replaced Brophy behind the bench for a brief period Saturday following Brophy's exit, will be behind the bench Wednesday night. Harvie also received a Game Misconduct and a Gross Misconduct after he questioned a non-goal call by the referee during the shootout in Fayetteville. Harvie did not receive any additional disciplinary action after his conversation with the SPHL Director of Hockey Operations, Bill Coffey, who handles all league matters during the season.

The Renegades play Fayetteville on Wednesday night which is another 2-3-4 or More Night plus a Skate with the Players Night following the game. They will be at home Friday for Penn Station East Coast Subs team Poster Night and against Columbus on Saturday for American Family Sports Bottle night against league leading Huntsville.
