Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Renegades Football Club acquired linebacker Donnovan Carter from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Wednesday.
In exchange for the non-import linebacker, who played 34 games in the nation's capital during the franchise's first two years in 2002 and 2003, Ottawa shipped its fourth round selection from the 2006 Canadian College Draft.
Carter, 30, is in sixth season in the CFL. After beginning his career with the Toronto Argonauts following his college days at Northern Illinois, the hard hitting Canadian went to Ottawa and then Hamilton, where he has played since signing with the Tiger-Cats as a free agent in early 2004.
The Toronto native played 17 games for Hamilton last year and was active for the first 10 Tiger-Cats games this season.
Carter has played in 97 games during his Canadian Football League career.
Ottawa returns to action on Wednesday, September 28 for a Week 14 road affair against the Toronto Argonauts (TSN, Team 1200) at Rogers Centre. The Renegades are back home on Friday, Oct. 7 when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Tickets to the Thanksgiving weekend game are available either at the Renegades ticket office (1015 Bank Street), on the Internet (http://www.capitaltickets.ca), by phone (613.599.3267 or 877.788.3267), any Sports Experts location in the Ottawa and Gatineau regions as well as the Corel Centre Box Office in Kanata.
