Rockford Thunder News Release
ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford Thunder has signed third baseman Audrey Rendon, team General Manager Aaron M. Moore announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Rendon, 22, had a good rookie year for the Thunder in 2007. She hit .281 for the year, driving in eight runs and scoring 10. She also possessed a .955 fielding percentage at third base, committing just five errors on the season.
"I'm very happy and honored to be able to come back to Rockford for a second season," stated Rendon. "We were very close to winning it all next season and I want to be a part of another championship run with the Thunder."
Rendon was drafted in the third round, no. 17 overall, of the 2007 NPF Senior Draft last February after a stellar four-year career at the University of Louisville.
"We're thrilled to have Audrey back next season," said Moore. "She plays a very difficult position very well and she's a competitor. I think 2007 was just a glimpse of what she's capable of and with a full season under her belt, we feel she's going to have a big 2008."
