Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL)- Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Joel Champagne, and Tomas Filippi have only been playing together for three games, but Friday night's contest proved that their chemistry as a line is coming along just fine. The three combined for 14 points, as the Quebec Remparts won their home opener over the Lewiston MAINEiacs, 12-3.

Scoring came at a premium during the first period, as both teams showed defensive excellence. Lewiston was limited to five shots on goal, while Quebec had eight. However, the Remparts' eighth and final shot came at a crucial time, as Audy-Marchessault gave the home team a 1-0 lead with 26 seconds showing on the clock.

That late goal gave the Remparts a ton of momentum heading into the second period, as they started the middle frame with five goals in the first 5:33. Two of those tallies were by Joel Champagne, while Audy-Marchessault assisted on four of the five.

Midway through the hockey game, the MAINEiacs got on the board with a pair of goals. The first goal came at the 9:52 mark, when Olivier Dame-Malka rifled home a power play goal from the point. Then, at the 13:12 mark, it was Matthew Bissonnette, scoring his first of the season from Antoine Houde-Caron and Zach Shannon. Houde-Caron also assisted on Dame Malka's tally.

Unfortunately for Lewiston, the Remparts had a quick answer, as Joel Champagne completed his hat trick 25 seconds later. The two teams exchanged scores before the second period came to an end, with Houde-Caron picking up his third point of the game for the MAINEiacs, while Audy-Marchessault recorded his seventh point of the night for Quebec.

The home team added four goals in the third for a 12-3 final.

Jimmy Appleby picked up the win for Quebec, making 19 saves on 22 shots. Andrey Makarov suffered the loss, allowing four goals on 14 shots, before being replaced by Jordan Kennedy, who stopped 19 of 27 shots in relief.

The MAINEiacs will look for a .500 road trip on Saturday afternoon at 4:00, when they visit the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Lewiston will then return home to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on September 24th and 25th for a two-game weekend series with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
