Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - All good things must come to an end, and for the Lewiston MAINEiacs, their eight-game home winning streak came to a hault on Friday night. The Quebec Remparts scored twice in the first and second periods, before adding three goals in the third for a 7-1 victory in front of 2,406 fans at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Lewiston's lone bright spot in the game was Etienne Brodeur's franchise record-tying ninth shorthanded goal of the season.

The first goal of the game came on a fortunate bounce for the Remparts. Joel Champagne put the puck off of the side of the net, only to have it sit in the crease. With Nicholas Champion searching around, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault tapped the loose puck into the cage. Later in the period, Quebec added to the lead, as Vincent Montreuil finished off a three-way passing play with Mirko Hoefflin and Frederick Roy.

In the second period, the Remparts doubled the lead, scoring twice in a span of 1:08. At the 11:37 mark of the middle frame, Frederick Roy tipped in a point shot by Vincent Barnard. For the fourth goal, Olivier Hinse took advantage of a bouncing puck in the slot, batting it into the net.

Early in the third period, the MAINEiacs got on the board. Etienne Brodeur took a feed from Michael Chaput, rushed hard up the right side the ice, and lifted a backhander over Louis Domingue's blocker. The goal was Brodeur's ninth shorthanded tally of the season, as well as his 43rd marker overall. Both totals lead the league.

After Brodeur's goal, Quebec finished the win, as Ryan Bourque, Joel Champagne, and Mikael Tam all found the back of the net for a 7-1 win for the visitors.

Louis Domingue picked up his league-leading 30th win of the year for the Remparts, making 26 saves on 27 shots. Nicholas Champion suffered the loss for Lewiston, allowing seven goals on 38 shots.

The MAINEiacs and Remparts will meet up once again on Saturday night, beginning at 7:00 in Lewiston.
