Reign FC Announces 2015 Team Awards

SEATTLE (October 5, 2015) - Seattle Reign FC announced today the club's 2015 team awards with Kim Little earning both the Most Valuable Player award and the Goal of the Season. Lauren Barnes won Defender of the Year while Keelin Winters was voted the team's Unsung Hero. Beverly Yanez was voted Best Attacker after tallying 10 goals this year, including a goal in the NWSL Semi-Final. This year's team awards were voted on by coaches, players, and technical staff.

Little - who was also named to the NWSL Best XI - led the team with 10 goals in 20 games while also recording a league high seven assists. On August 21, Little netted her first NWSL career hat-trick against the Houston Dash. Her third goal on the night, that included Little dribbling through Houston's defense before chipping her shot into the net, earned the team's Goal of the Season award.

Barnes has been with Reign FC since its inaugural 2013 season. The centerback played every minute for Seattle this season (20 games, 20 starts) for a total of 1800 minutes. Barnes also tallied her first goal against Sky Blue FC on May 9 and and tallied two assists by season's end.

Winters continued to be a force for Reign FC as the defensive midfielder's strong presence on the pitch enabled the team to fire on all cylinders. Paired nicely with fellow midfielder Jessica Fishlock, Winters squashed opponents ability to attack while quickly jumpstarting Reign FC's offense time and time again.

Yanez had a banner year up front for Reign FC, scoring 9 goals in 18 games. She also tallied the opening goal for Seattle in the Semi-Final match against the Washington Spirit to bring her 2015 tally to 10 total goals.

Additonally, Little, Yanez, Barnes, and Fishlock were all voted to the NWSL Best XI. Winters, defenders Stephanie Cox and Kendall Fletcher, and forward Megan Rapinoe were named to the NWSL Second XI list.

Seattle finished the 2015 campaign as the league runner-up, as well as the NWSL shield winners after posting 43 points during the regular season.
