FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks won for the second game in a row with a 9-6 victory over the Joliet JackHammers Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field in front of 3,432 fans. RedHawks reliever LHP Adam Tollefson pitched a third of an inning for his first win of the season and the RedHawks crept within four-games of the first-place Winnipeg Goldeyes.

After the start of the game was delayed 92 minutes due to rain, RedHawks SS Zach Penprase opened the scoring with a first-inning solo home run to put the RedHawks on the board 1-0. In the second, RedHawks RF Jeremiah Piepkorn reached on a fielder's choice and 2B Carlo Cota cracked a single. With Piepkorn in scoring position, LF Justin Justice doubled him home to make it 2-0.

JackHammers SS Kevin Rios and 3B Vince Harrison teamed-up for a pair of fourth-inning singles. DH Brad Correll was jammed on an inside pitch, but fisted a game-tying double to left. With the go-ahead run 90 feet away, 2B Rob Dahlberg singled Correll home to give the JackHammers a 3-2 lead.

SS Kevin Rios scorched a ball past the hot corner, reached second on a wild pitch and Harrison singled him home to make it 4-2. 1B Freddie Thon hit a sixth-inning single and scored on LF Wally Backman Junior's double. Backman reached third on a fielding error by RedHawks CF Nic Jackson and Klein singled him home to pad the JackHammers lead 5-2.

In the sixth, JackHammers starter RHP Rory Shortell issued a walk to RedHawks C Alan Rick and plunked Cota. Justice hit a two-run big-fly, his sixth home run in 10 games, and the RedHawks benefited from a throwing error before Jackson tied it at six with a sac fly.

RedHawks 1B Randall Simon fell just shy of a tie-breaking home run and instead was held to a long-single. But RF Jeremiah Piepkorn tripled Simon home and Rick gave the RedHawks a two-run lead on a sac fly to left to plate Piepkorn from third. In the eighth, DH Mike Coles cracked a leadoff double, reached third on a passed ball and scored on a RBI groundout by Penprase.

RedHawks reliever RHP T.J. Stanton pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game and notch his eighth save of the season.

The RedHawks go for the series-sweep tomorrow at Newman Outdoor Field. RHP Matt Mossey (2-0, 3.32) will take to the mound for the RedHawks. Joliet has not announced a starting pitcher. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
