Portland Pirates News Release

Port Charlotte, FL - The Bradenton Marauders (43-38) were locked in from the get go, plating three runs in the first off Alex Cobb (L, 0-1) and racing to a 7-2 win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs (40-42) on Wednesday night at Charlotte Sports Park.

LF Jordan Luplow's two-RBI double chased the rehabbing Tampa Bay Rays righty after two thirds of an inning. The Marauders weren't much kinder to Nicholas Sawyer and Benton Moss. Bradenton scored three times in the second against Sawyer to take a 6-0 lead. Tito Polo homered off Moss in the fourth for the final run for the visitors. Polo and Luplow each finished with three hits in the game. LHP Stephen Tarpley (W, 4-2) returned to form while delivering his longest start of the season. Tarpley struck out six over seven scoreless innings. The start marked the lefthander's third consecutive outing against the Stone Crabs. He went 2-1 against them over that stretch. RHP Sam Street pitched the final two innings. Rehabbing Pirates catcher C Elias Diaz caught for five innings, walked twice, recorded a single, scored two runs, and flew out to right field on a hard-hit ball.
