January 6, 2023 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Philadelphia Rebels News Release
SEWELL, NJ - In their first game back from the holiday break, the Philadelphia Rebels (11-16-1-1, 24 pts) took a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Northeast Generals (19-10-3-1, 42 pts). The loss ends the Rebels' five-game point-streak.
Just under six minutes into the first period, the Generals took a 1-0 lead on a snipe from Jared Scott. Scott's goal beat Jack Fialkoff short side. Five minutes later, it was Tyler Ramm beating Fialkoff on a two-on-none break for Northeast.
In the second period, Philadelphia flipped the script of Friday's game.
Greg Spitznagel got the Rebels on the board halfway into the period. Spitznagel charged the net looking to poke the puck free and it found its way past Toby Hopp. Connor Sedlak and Luke deVries got the assists on Spitznagel's fifth tuck of the campaign.
Sonny DiNubile capitalized late in the second period during an abbreviated power play. DiNubile scored seconds into the man advantage. The tally was DiNubile's first career goal and came on Sedlak's second assist of the night.
David Andreychuck put Northeast up 3-2 with 4:29 left in regulation. Andreychuck's tally proved to be the game-winner.
In the loss, Jack Fialkoff stopped 29 of 32 shots, including multiple big saves on Northeast's top line to keep Philadelphia within striking distance in the first two periods.
The Rebels will be back on the ice Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Hollydell Ice Arena against the Northeast Generals.
