SACRAMENTO, CALIF., September 7, 2007 - The Sacramento Monarchs and USA Basketball today announced that 2007 WNBA All-Star forward Rebekkah Brunson and All-Star guard Kara Lawson have both been added to the 2007-08 USA Basketball Women's Senior National Team.

Brunson and Lawson will join 25 other members of the 2007-08 USA squad as the team attempts to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The USA Women's Senior National Team begins training tonight at 6:00 p.m. EDT at John Jay College in New York in preparation for the 2007 FIBA America Championship, September 26-30, in Valdivia, Chile. Brunson averaged 11.5 points per game and led the Monarchs in rebounds averaging 8.9 (2nd in WNBA) for the 2007 season. No stranger to USA Basketball as she was a member of the 2003 USA Pan American Games Team that earned the silver medal with a 5-2 finish.

Lawson, the Monarchs "sixth women", averaged 11 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2 assists and 0.9 steals per game for Sacramento in 2007.
