New York/New Jersey Juggernaut News Release

Little Falls, NJ- A first inning three-run homerun by Texas Thunder (36-15) catcher Ryan Realmuto highlighted the first-place Thunder's 5-0 win over the NY/NJ Juggernaut (32-20). Texas starter Lindsay Chouinard (10-5) wouldn't need any more run support as she shut down the Nauts, pitching seven complete innings, giving up no runs on just two hits, one walk and one strikeout.

Texas leadoff hitter Liz Bouck led off the first inning with an infield hit and Juggernaut starter Gina Oaks (10-8) consecutively hit both first baseman Ginger Jones-Powers and third baseman Clare Burnum with pitches to set the stage for Realmuto's three-run bomb over the left field fence. Oaks pitched four innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits, four walks, and three strikeouts. Texas then tacked on two more in the second inning when Bouck scored on an error by Nauts first baseman Erika Hanson, and second baseman Lindsay Gardner scored on a single to right by Powers to make it 5-0. Bouck was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, and Realmuto was 1-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored.

Kaci Clark relieved Oaks in the fifth inning, pitching three innings, giving up no runs on two hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Leftfielder Venus Taylor and catcher Courtney Scott each went 1-for-2 for the Nauts.

Prior to the 7:35 pm regularly scheduled game, the Juggernaut and the Thunder finished the game that was suspended in Texas on July 25th due to travel constraints. The game picked up where it left off, in the bottom of the fourth with Texas up 6-0, and that's how it ended. Texas pitcher Peaches James and Clark pitched the final three innings of the game, neither of them gave up a hit or a walk.

The Juggernaut will take on the Thunder in their last home game of the season at 7:35 pm tomorrow. They will then close out the season with away games at the Arizona Heat and the California Sunbirds.
