Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, August 10, 2010) - The Eastern Conference swing for Real Salt Lake (10-4-5, 35 pts. 2nd in West) will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 11, with the defending MLS Cup champion's first-ever visit to PPL Park to take on Philadelphia Union (4-10-3, 15 pts. 7th in East). Kickoff from suburban Chester, Penn. is set for 5:30 p.m. MT for a contest that will be televised live on KUSG 2.2 (Comcast 111), with coverage concluding with the 30-minute America First Credit Union Post-match Report. Fans can also follow the action live via RSL's official radio partners - ESPN 700 Sports (English), ESPN Deportes 1600-AM and Homero 106.1-FM (Spanish) - and the club's official Twitter feed, found at www.twitter.com/RealSaltLake .
Wednesday's contest will mark the third of a six-game stretch in which the defending MLS Cup (and Eastern Conference) champions will face opposition from the East during League play. Real Salt Lake's first-ever meeting with Philadelphia back on May 8 went well for the home side, as MF Kyle Beckerman, DF Jamison Olave, and FW Ãlvaro SaborÃo all tallied their second goals of the season in a 3-0 trouncing of the Union at Rio Tinto Stadium. Real Salt Lake has two ties to the Union roster, most notably GK Chris Seitz, who began his MLS career with three seasons as the primary back-up to Nick Rimando from 2007-09. In addition, breakout rookie FW Danny Mwanga was a member of the RSL Under-18 squad that represented the shield well last spring during the prestigious Mundial de Clubes Sub-18 Comunidad de Madrid tournament in Spain.
