Stockton Wolves News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif---It took a last second field goal Saturday but the San Jose Wolves got what they wanted; a chance to pull even in the Western Division against the division leading Wyoming Cavalry.

Not only would a Wolves' win put each team at 8-1 but it would also even up the season series at a game a piece making the possible tiebreaker the last week of the season in Wyoming.

Obviously, a lot has to happen for that showdown, but this is the rematch the Wolves have been set on since losing in Casper 54-25 over a month ago.

The Wolves have rebounded nicely and remain one game behind Wyoming in the Division.

Quarterback Omar Jacobs' 31 touchdowns have propelled the Wolves offense to third in the league at just under 63 points per game, fifteen points higher than the fourth ranked team.

Receiver Jayson Boyd helps San Jose form one of the toughest receiving corps alongside A.J. Bennett, Reggie Eubanks, and Somora Goodsen. Boyd hauled in a spectacular touchdown against Wenatchee Valley, leaping to get the ball and holding on after getting drilled over the padding in just his first game back from injury.

However, Wyoming's offense may be the one setting the pace.

The undefeated Cavalry boast the A.I.F.A.'s highest scoring offense with over 67 points per game.

A large part of their success has to do with quarterback Matt Strand's 48-3 touchdown to interception ratio. Strand's targets have had excellent first halves of the season as well. Receiver Jasonus Tillery has caught 17 of his 34 receptions in the end zone while B.J. Charlton has added 16 touchdown catches.

Rodney Wasche leads a defensive that is ranked second in the league averaging just less than 32 points allowed per game. Wasche, who set the A.I.F.A. record for sacks in 2008, leads the league with 12.5 sacks this year.

But the Cavalry are a far stride above the Wolves' last few opponents. The match-up with Wyoming pits two of the top three teams in the entire American Indoor Football Association.

Tickets for the Wolves' second to last regular season home game of the year are still available by calling 1-877-9-WOLVES.
