Rochester RazorSharks News Release

(Rochester, N.Y.)Å The Rochester RazorSharks professional basketball team have signed their second local native to play for the American Basketball Association franchise. James Reaves, the Rochester area High School Player of the Year at Edison Tech in 2000 and a star at Niagara University, has agreed to terms and will report to the RazorSharks training camp on Monday, October 17. Reaves joins Greece Olympia graduate Demond Stewart as the two Rochester natives on the RazorSharks.

Reaves, a 6'8" forward, recently returned from Germany where he was on a tryout with Mitteldeutscher BC in the German Bundesliga professional league. Last season he played for two German teams - BS/Energy Braunschweig in the German Division I pro league and SG FT/MTV Braunschweig in the German Division II pro league, where he averaged 22.6 points per game in 17 games.

"James brings a great work ethic and a knack for being around the ball," said Brendan Rooney, the RazorSharks Director of Player Personnel. "He is relentless on the glass, is a good low-block scorer and continues to extend his shooting range as well"

Reaves was the Greater Rochester High School Player of the Year in 2000, when he averaged 25 points per game and 17 rebounds per game for Edison Tech. Reaves received a full scholarship to Niagara University, where he made the MAAC's All-Rookie Team his freshman season. He went on to average over 11 points per game the following three seasons and was the team's top rebounder.

The 23 year-old has played professionally in Finland, Germany and Mexico since graduating from Niagara in 2004.
