RazorSharks re-sign Keith Friel

(Rochester, NY)... The 2008 Premier Basketball League Champions, Rochester RazorSharks, announced today the resigning of guard Keith Friel. Friel, (6'4" / 190lbs. / University of Virginia) who will be returning for his fourth season with Rochester was the team's leading scorer the last two seasons and was named the Playoff MVP last year.

Friel averaged 17.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2 apg, and 1.5 spg during the 2008 regular season and set a RazorSharks single-game franchise record by scoring 35 points in last year's championship game including 7 three point field goals. Friel is the RazorSharks all-time leading scorer and leader in 3-point field goals made.

Friel was the 2008 PBL's leader in Free Throw Percentage at 89% making 77 out of 87 attempts on the year, and was ranked second in the league in 3-point field goals, shooting 38%while connecting on 56 out of 147 attempts.

A graduate of Oyster River High School in Durham, New Hampshire, Friel went on to play at the University of Notre Dame before transferring and finishing his college career at the University of Virginia.

Friel says, "I'm ecstatic to be back with the RazorSharks for my fourth season to keep building on the foundation and rich success that we have had already the past three years. I look forward to building on the success that we shared in our inaugural PBL Championship season, and bringing another championship to the City of Rochester."

RazorSharks Head Coach Rod Baker says "Part of our success has been our continuity and our ability to retain good players. Anytime you can bring back your all-time leading scorer you're heading in the right direction,"

The RazorSharks will open training camp in early December with the regular season starting in January. The PBL will release the 2009 Schedule shortly.
