RazorSharks earn comeback victory with key third quarter

(Rochester, NY)...The Rochester RazorSharks (4-1) continued their dominance at the Blue Cross Arena extending their home winning streak to 38 games, with a come-from-behind 107-94 victory against the West Division leader, Quad City River Hawks (4-2). The RazorSharks win came in front of an attendance of 2,798, including their former court general, Lazarus Sims. Sims was honored before the game with his #3 jersey retired, which will now hang from the rafters at the BCA for all to see.

The River Hawks started the game hot with a 7-0 lead in the first two minutes. They pushed their lead to 26-20 to end the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter remained tight between the two teams, but Quad City extended their lead at the half to 53-44, led by Anthony Hardin and Keith Gaydon with 11 points each.

The 3rd quarter was a completely different story as the RazorSharks absolutely dominated, scoring 43 points to the River Hawks 14, taking a 20 point, 87-67, lead to close out the 3rd. Rochester's comeback was led by Keith Friel, who had 18 points at the end of the third, and finished the game with a team high 25 points.

Quad City was able to make it a game again, closing within 5 points, 99-94, with 2:24 left to play. With the help of Friel's four clutch free throws down the stretch, the RazorSharks closed out the win. Vidal Massiah was the 2nd leading scorer with 20 points, and James "Mook" Reaves led the team with 10 rebounds and pulled in 17 points. Quad City was led by the League's 2nd leading scorer, Ryan Edwards, with 20 points, averaging 24.

The RazorSharks were able to do what no other team could against Quad City, holding them to under 100 points and 30 points below their season average.

The RazorSharks next game is against the Chicago Throwbacks (1-4) Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 2:05pm as the RazorSharks and Cricket salute Section V Athletes with '3 games for the price of 1' deal. Following the RazorSharks game, Webster Schroeder plays against Rush Henrietta featuring girls' varsity basketball at 5:00pm, and Fairport will play Edison Tech at 7:00pm highlighting boys' varsity basketball.

Fans will be able to see all three games by purchasing a ticket to the RazorSharks game. All Section V students and staff will receive $5 off on all General Admission tickets by presenting their ID at the Blue Cross Arena Box Office.
