Razorsharks Clinch Playoff Berth

March 22, 2011 - Premier Basketball League (PBL)
Rochester RazorSharks News Release

Rochester RazorSharks coach Rod Baker uses his entire roster. Demetrius Howard is the last man he goes to.

With his team playing sluggishly through the first quarter and clinging to a 24-23 lead at Dayton, Baker turned to Howard. He responded by scoring all 11 of his points in the second quarter, leading the Sharks to a 49-41 halftime lead. Keith Friel scored 15 of his 17 points in the third quarter to up the lead to 18. Rochester held on for a 113-103 victory.

The team's eighth win in its last nine clinches one of four Premier Basketball League playoff berths. The RazorSharks currently sit third.

Eric Walton had the team high 22 for Rochester. Friel and Sammy Monroe scored 17 points each.

Dayton's Mickey Perry connected on 8 of 12 three point attempts and wound up with a game high 31 points.

The Air Strikers in losing their fifth straight PBL game, really hurt themselves from the free throw line, making just 14 of 23. They missed five in the fourth quarter alone. Rochester made 38 of 49. That was the most pronounced difference in the game.

The victory was the RazorSharks' seventh in their last eight. Their final regular season game of the year is Saturday afternoon against the Kentucky Bluegrass Stallions. It has a 1:05 tip off at the Blue Cross Arena.
