RazorSharks Anthem Singer Aviella Winder to Perform at Syracuse University ROTC Military Ball

February 13, 2008 - Premier Basketball League (PBL)
Rochester RazorSharks News Release

(Rochester, NY)...Rochester RazorSharks' 2008 official National Anthem singer, Aviella Winder, will be performing live at the 2008 Syracuse University ROTC Military Ball, per their request. Aviella, 10, has been an avid supporter for our troops and is a member of Soldier's Angels Organization. Through this organization she has adopted soldiers and writes to them on a weekly basis as well as sends care packages to them every month. Earlier this year, Aviella sang the National Anthem for 50 soldiers who were being deployed to Iraq at the Soldier's Angels ceremony dinner in Geneva, NY

"I am so excited to be able to be a part of the 2008 ROTC Military Ball! It means the world to me! It is truly amazing what the servicemen and women do for us," said young Aviella. "There are so many ways that we can help support the troops in our everyday lives, to show them we care. Every time that I am able to welcome home a soldier, I've learned that they are just like us, and they like to do everything we like to do, but they give it all up for us to have our freedom!"

"Aviella sang the national anthem at one of our home games last season and the crowd went wild," said RazorSharks Owner/GM, Orest Hrywnak. This year, we invited Aviella to sing the national anthem at our home opener and once again the crowd fell in love with her. So, I decided that Aviella should become our official National Anthem Singer the rest of the 2008 season at the Blue Cross Arena. She's such a great and caring kid!"

Recently, Aviella spoke and performed at the Perinton Recreation Teen center to encourage and inspire everyone to raise awareness and importance of supporting our servicemen and women. Aviella is also a member of Operation Welcome Home, and has sung for the Veteran's Outreach Center during last year's dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Golisano Campus building.

Aviella also volunteers by singing at numerous fundraisers, nursing homes, hospitals, and performs at several Rochester city-themed events, such as, the 2008 High Falls Family Event, 2007 Park Ave Festival, and 2007 Taste of Rochester Festival.

The Syracuse University ROTC Military Ball is being held on Saturday, February 23rd at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel in Syracuse, NY, from 6:40pm-12:00am
