November 6, 2019 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) - New Britain Bees News Release
(New Britain, Conn.) - The New Britain Bees today announced the hiring of Ray Ricker as the club's Field Manager for the 2020 season, their first in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.
Ricker, a Bristol resident, is the current head coach of Post University in Waterbury and has previous experience in summer collegiate baseball with both the Cape Cod League, as well as the NECBL.
"Ray brings the Bees a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience and a track record of success," said Bees General Manager Brad Smith. "He is local, has successful previous summer collegiate experience, and runs a terrific program at Post. I am excited to work with him."
During his tenure at Post, Ricker has put an emphasis on player development and mentored Post's first-ever player selected in the MLB Draft, Mike Costello. In addition to his development program, the former catcher for University of Bridgeport and Albertus Magnus has led the Eagles to the most Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference wins in the program's history.
"I'm excited to join the Bees and help put a top shelf product on the field," said Ricker. "We are going to build a strong team, compete hard every game, and have a program Central Connecticut baseball fans will want to come out, support, and root for."
