Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - For the second straight game, the Quakes' ninth-inning rally came up a run short, as Rancho fell to Visalia on Tuesday night at LoanMart Field, 7-6, giving the Quakes three straight losses overall.
Trailing 7-5 in the ninth, Rancho pulled to within a run on Yeiner Fernandez's third hit of the night, making it 7-6. But with the tying run at second and the winning run on at first base, Luis Rodriguez struck out to end the game, giving Junior Mieses his fourth save of the year.
Rancho raced to an early 2-0 lead, but couldn't get the offense going again until the eighth inning.
Visalia got on the board in the fifth, then tied the game in the seventh against Martin Santana (3-2).
The Rawhide plated four more in the eighth to take the lead for good.
The Quakes got three back in the bottom of the inning against eventual winner Listher Sosa (3-3).
Fernandez finished with three of Rancho's nine hits and drove home three on the night. Damon Keith had two hits and an RBI in the loss.
The Quakes (1-3) send Ronan Kopp (3-2) to the mound on Wednesday, while Visalia will go with right-hander Josh Swales (2-3) at 6:30pm.
Wednesday is another Terra Vista Animal Hospital Bark in the Ballpark, as four-legged friends are welcome with the purchase of a $3 Pet Pass. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
