Rawhide Announce 2010 Opening Day Roster

VISALIA-The Visalia Rawhide will begin their 2nd season in newly renovated Recreation Ballpark with a roster loaded with Major League potential.
Seven of the twenty-five players assigned to Visalia by the Arizona Diamondbacks are ranked among the D-backs' top prospects by Baseball America. Two are ranked in the top ten.
Marc Krauss, tabbed by Baseball America to be "the first player from Arizona's 2009 draft class to reach the majors," will patrol the outfield for the Rawhide. Ryan Wheeler, who was named by Arizona as their minor league Player of the Year in 2009, will see time at the corner infield positions.
Reynaldo Navarro, a 20-year-old infielder noted for his dazzling defensive plays, will likely start at shortstop, while Paul Goldschmidt, who is lauded by Baseball America for his "massive raw power," will provide a menacing home run threat in the middle of the lineup.
Behind the plate, Visalia fans will be treated to defensive standout Rossmel Perez' cannon arm and relentless energy. Perez threw out 44% of attempted basestealers at Low-A South Bend last season, a number that led the Midwest League.
Meanwhile, a number of players from last year's Rawhide squad will return to Tulare County. Visalia's two California League All-Stars from 2009, Josh Collmenter and Pat McAnaney, will slot back into the starting rotation, while supplemental-1st Round draft pick Wade Miley will also wear the scarlet, black and tan for a second time.
Other returners include pitchers T.J. Hose, Trevor Harden, Billy Spottiswood,
Victor Capellan, and Cristian Beltre, along with infielders Kyle Greene (who led the Rawhide in RBIs last season) and Andrew Fie.
The Rawhide will be managed by Audo Vicente, who begins his first season in Visalia and his 5th managerial year in the Dbacks' system. Erik Sabel also makes his Visalia debut as Pitching Coach, while Alan Zinter returns as Hitting Coach.
With Opening Day set for this Thursday, the Rawhide are full of anticipation to begin what promises to be a hugely exciting season.
