Dallas Rattlers News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rattlers announced today that the organization has reached an agreement to play its 2003 Major League Lacrosse home schedule at Bishop Kearney High School.

Rochester will play at the stadium in Irondequoit, which can reach a capacity of 4,500 with expanded seating. Bishop Kearney is also the home of the Rochester Raging Rhinos' Training Camp and is the site of three A-League Soccer preseason games this year. The lacrosse experience will include a Kids' Zone, pregame VIP tent, and additional fields for youth lacrosse games. Concessions and parking are also available at Bishop Kearney.

"We are really excited about the great relationship we have with the Rhinos, which is going on its third year now," said Bishop Kearney President Mark Peterson. "So when the Rattlers approached us, it was a natural and we were able to work out an agreement very easily.

"The proceeds (from hosting the MLL games) will help us re-launch our lacrosse program that was phased out four years ago," added Peterson.

"We are excited to bring another team out to Bishop Kearney High School," said Rattlers co-owner Steve Donner. "We have enjoyed working with Mark Peterson and his staff over the past three year at the Rhinos Training Camp. Our new agreement now allows us to expand our relationship beyond the Rhinos, to include the Rochester Rattlers lacrosse club."

The Rattlers play six home games this year and open the season at home on May 31st against the Bridgeport Barrage. The 7:35 p.m. game will kickoff the Rattlers third season in the MLL.

"We are very excited to begin this relationship with Kearney," said Rattlers Head Coach Guy Van Arsdale. "The facility will create an intimate experience between the Rattlers and our fans, which is unprecedented at this level of play."

Season tickets for the 2003 season are $50 and each account is entitled to VIP parking. Individual general admission tickets are $10 and group tickets can be purchased for $9.00. Call 454-5425 for additional ticket information or go to www.rochesterrattlers.com.

Fans at Bishop Kearney will have the opportunity to see history as Casey and Ryan Powell team up for the first time since the brothers played together at Syracuse University in 1998. Casey, the MLL's leading scorer in 2002, was acquired from the Long Island Lizards in the offseason. The trade also brought over Brian Carcaterra. The goaltender was a 2002 MLL All-Star and led the Lizards to the 2001 championship.

With the offseason moves, the Rattlers hope to rebound from a 6-8 record in 2002 and return to the postseason. Rochester advanced to the inaugural MLL Semifinals in 2001. The road to the postseason begins on May 31st against Bridgeport and then continues through Long Island as the Rattlers battle the Lizards on June 6th and June 14th.
