Rattlers Stay Undefeated at Home to Retake First Place

FRISCO, Texas - The Dallas Rattlers defeated the Ohio Machine by a score of 17-16 on Sunday night to take sole possession of first place in Major League Lacrosse.

The Rattlers started off the first quarter with a strong three-goal run that opened with Jordan Wolf recording his 150th MLL career goal. Another milestone came with the second goal as Ty Thompson netted his first goal of the evening to make it 18 straight appearances with at least one goal. Thompson's streak dates back to May 6, 2017. Scoring came in bursts for both teams as the quarter closed with the home team up 6-5.

Though the second quarter saw the Machine outscore the Rattlers 7-3, rookie Ben Reeves scored his first career goal on an unassisted shot early in the half. A five-goal Ohio run closed out the first half to put the visitors up 12-9.

In the second half, both teams had strong scoring efforts with the Machine leading the third quarter scoring 4-3. Ned Crotty scored his first goal of the game in the third quarter which would prove to be a turning point in the game. After scoring his first, the dynamic midfielder went on to net a hat-trick to help pull the Rattlers ahead. The Rattlers defense held the Machine to a scoreless final period of play. With the 17-16 win, the Rattlers are now in sole possession of first place and are the only MLL team to be undefeated at home.
