Dallas Rattlers News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rattlers will have a chance to avenge a tough 17-15 loss to New Jersey last Sunday, when they host the Pride on Saturday at Bishop Kearney Field. The 7:35 p.m. contest is the second of a home-and-home series against New Jersey.

The Rattlers are currently 2-4 and in third place in the National Division. Rochester hosts the second-place Pride (3-2) this weekend. The Rattlers lead the all-time series with a 6-3 record, but lost the last meeting on July 6th in New Jersey.

Rochester has dropped two straight divisional games entering Saturday's contest and is in search of its first win against a National Division opponent. The Rochester Rattlers are led on offense by Casey Powell and Josh Coffman. Powell is third in the league with 27 points (14+13) in six games and also leads the Rattlers in that offensive category. Coffman ranks ninth in the MLL with 20 points (14+6). Both players were recently selected to play for the National Division team in the 2003 MLL All-Star Game on July 17th. Rookie Gewas Schindler leads the team with 16 goals.

New Jersey brings the stingiest defense in the league to Bishop Kearney Field, allowing only 69 goals in five games. The Pride are in the midst of a three-game winning streak after suffering two losses to open the 2003 season.

New Jersey goalie Trevor Tierney is tied for third in the MLL with three wins. The Pride also have one of the league's top goal scorers in Jesse Hubbard. Hubbard is second in the MLL with 22 goals and eighth in points with 23. He was named the MLL Co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a season-high six goals against Rochester on Sunday.

Prior to Saturday's game, fans can enjoy the Rochester Rattlers pregame party. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. at Bishop Kearney Field. The event is sponsored by Bud Light, Foodlink, Zweigle's, Atlantis Pools & Spas, the Democrat & Chronicle, and Massage on University.

The game this Saturday is the first of a two-game homestand for the Rattlers. Rochester hosts the Boston Cannons at 7:35 p.m. on July 19th. Rochester won the first meeting against the Cannons 18-17 in overtime at Boston on June 21st. Both contests will be broadcast on News Talk 950 WROC and online at www.rochesterrattlers.com.

Two days before the Boston game, six players will represent Rochester at the 2003 MLL All-Star Game on Long Island.
