Dallas Rattlers News Release
(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Rattlers defeated the Ohio Machine 14-13 in Sahlen's Stadium on Saturday night to remain in the hunt for a spot in MLL's Championship Weekend. The Rattlers used a team effort to overcome Machine A Chazz Woodson's five goal game. Veteran M Matt Striebel had a six point night with two goals (2 2-pt goals) and two assists. Rookie Rob Rotanz scored his first career hat trick and first year Rattlers M Jordan MacIntosh had four points (three goals, one assist).
The Rattlers came out in support with blue helmets tonight for the Rochester Urology Associates to raise awareness of the fight against prostate cancer in the community. Rochester would continue to stay on the Machine's side of the field, with two more points in the quarter by MacIntosh and a power play goal by Leveille. Ohio would manage to sweep in with one goal in between, leaving the Rattlers on top after the first quarter, 5-1.
The first goal of the second half would come from Ohio, but the Rattlers would be soon to follow with a score from M Robert Rotanz assisted by M Brad Ross. The Machine would come in with one more point, which would be thought to be the last goal of the quarter until A Ned Crotty came in with an amazing goal with four seconds to spare leaving the Rattlers with a four point lead, 7-3.
The Rattlers and the Machines would continue to zig zag possession of the ball in the third quarter with four goals each. Two of these goals would come from Rotanz, making him currently the leading scorer of the game with three goals and contributing
goals by MacIntosh with his second goal and A Steven Boyle coming in with his first. Rochester would come off the third quarter with the lead 11-8.
Although Ohio would come through with the first goal of the fourth quarter, the Rattlers would respond with an impressive rally. Striebel came through with a two point powerplay goal, and MacIntosh scored his third goal, bringing him in a tie with Robert Rotanz for most goals in the game. Ohio would have another three goal rally before the end of the game, one being a two pointer, but the Rattlers still held on to win with a score of 14-13.
The Rattlers ended the night three for six in man-up situations while their man-down unit killed off two more penalties. The Rochester Rattlers man-down unit has killed off 30 of 34 (88.24%) penalties this season.
