Dallas Rattlers News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Dallas Rattlers have signed six 2018 rookies to contract extensions including Dallas local Christian Carson-Banister.
The signings also include Jordan Dowiak, Chris Keating, Hunter Moreland, Jake Pulver, and Cody Radziewicz. All six players are now signed through the 2020 season.
"It's an exciting thing when you can watch six players that we drafted sign extensions," said President Bill Goren. "It shows our commitment to developing top talent and investing on and off the field in our players."
Carson-Banister, a product of Jesuit Dallas, was drafted by the Rattlers in the 2018 supplemental draft and served as a reserve goalkeeper in his rookie season.
The signings provide an offensive boost for the Rattlers with Radziewicz (Johns Hopkins '17) and Dowiak (Cornell '18). Radziewicz saw meaningful playing time in 2018 as he racked up 11 goals and 11 assists over 12 appearances. Dowiak remained on the collegiate inactive list after being drafted to one of the league's most powerful offenses but with 40 goals and 7 assists his senior season with the Big Red, he looks to bring more firepower to the Rattlers in 2019.
On defense, the Rattlers return two more Ivy Leaguers with defensemen Jake Pulver (Cornell '18) and Chris Keating (Yale '18). Pulver's lone appearance for the Rattlers in 2018 came during a crucial 13-12 road win over the Denver Outlaws to seal home-field advantage for the playoffs. Keating, a reigning national champion with the Bulldogs, was not activated in 2018 but looks to bring added intensity with a collegiate career mark of 147 ground balls and 75 caused turnovers.
"I am very excited to be back with this team. It is a great group of guys and I am ready to compete with them," said Pulver.
With the Rattlers having Drew Simoneau, the only faceoff specialist to take every draw for his team, Moreland (Johns Hopkins '18) remained inactive during his rookie season. Moreland, the Blue Jays fourth all-time faceoff leader, will look to bring added competition to the faceoff-x in 2019.
The contract extensions come just days after Major League Lacrosse announced major changes including a 51 percent salary cap increase and an extended regular season.
