Dallas Rattlers News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rattlers and Knighthawks will close out their "King of the Wing" chicken wing contest with the final appearance scheduled for Wednesday, August 20th at 8:00 p.m. at the Stock Exchange (28 East Main St.).
Rattlers midfielder and Irondequoit native Joe Walters will be on hand along with the members of the front office staff and Rattlers Rowdies. The Rattlers will also hold a playoff pep rally as the team prepares for the 2008 MLL NB Zip Championship Weekend in Boston.
Throughout the summer, the Rattlers and Knighthawks sampled chicken wings at 11 restaurants over the course of three months in order to determine who truly has the best wings in town. The winner will be crowned later this week prior to the Major League Lacrosse Final Four Weekend (August 23-24).
Each restaurant/bar will receive a rating of one to four, with four being the highest mark. The judges will sample traditional wings, extra hot and the store's signature wing. The panel will also score the blue cheese and celery at each stop. Lastly, the ambiance could factor into the decision with photos, décor and famous patrons playing a role. The critiques will be posted on the team's official websites two days after the events. Rochesterratlers.com will also include a photo gallery of the visit.
The winner will receive an autographed Rattlers or Knighthawks jersey to hang in their store and a plaque from the teams symbolizing their achievement.
Rochester faces the two-time defending champion and No. 4 seed Philadelphia Barrage (7-5) in the first semifinal game in the 2008 NB ZIP⢠MLL Championship Weekend on Saturday, August 23rd.
