Rattlers Claim Peter Milliman; Place Phil Gardner On Practice Squad

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rattlers announced today that they have claimed attackman/midfielder Peter Milliman from the Major League Lacrosse Player Pool. In a related move, the Rattlers placed defenseman Phil Gardner on the practice squad.

In his career, Milliman has played in seven games and has four goals and four assists (2006-07). The last game he played in was on May 26, 2007 against Washington. His best game as a pro was on August 12, 2006, when he scored four goals and added two assists against Boston. That season he played in a career-high six games and collected seven points (4+3). The Rochester native was originally the Rattlers' fifth-round selection (26th overall) in the 2003 MLL Supplemental Draft.

Milliman played his college lacrosse for Division III Gettysburg from 1999-2002 and was a three-time All-American. In 2002, he led the Bullets with 79 points (38+41) in 19 games. He played his high school lacrosse at Brighton High School.

Gardner has played in one game for the Rattlers and made his professional and Rattlers debut on May 17th at Long Island. He was the Rattlers' fifth-round selection (48th overall) in the 2008 MLL Supplemental Draft.

In 2007, the Syracuse native helped the Geneseo Knights to a 9-5 record, their second SUNYAC title, and their third trip to the NCAA Division III championship in four years. He was named a First Team All-American and co-Most Valuable Players of the 2007 SUNYAC Tournament and earned All-ECAC honors in 2007. Further, Gardner was All-SUNYAC in 2006 and 2007. Before arriving at Geneseo, he played at Division I Sacred Heart from 2004 to 2005. He played his high school lacrosse at Corcoran High School.

This weekend, the Rattlers complete their regular-season schedule, as they travel to play the Chicago Machine on Sunday, August 10th at 4:30 p.m. EST at Toyota Park. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com.

The Rattlers (8-3) have locked up their fifth playoff berth and second Eastern Conference title with wins the last two weeks. Rochester is now fighting for the No. 1 seed in the 2008 NB ZIP™ MLL Championship Weekend. The Western Conference champion Denver Outlaws are also entering the weekend 8-3. Rochester can secure the top seed with a win and a Denver loss.
