Arizona Rattlers News Release
MESA, Az. - The playoff guaranteed Arizona Rattlers inked a pair of wide receivers to its 2008 squad today, adding NFL vet WR WALTER YOUNG (6-4, 220, Illinois) and former Sun Devil WR TERRY RICHARDSON (6-1, 188, Arizona State) to its squad just before the Los Angeles scrimmage on Tuesday.
Young was a seventh round choice of the Carolina Panthers in 2003, and started in one game that season. Released after the 2004 camp, he landed with the Steelers practice squad for the next two seasons before being allocated to NFL Europe in 2006, and played in the World Bowl that season. He began the 2006 season with the Steelers practice squad before a promotion to the active roster mid-season.
Richardson was signed by the Houston Texans on May 1, 2007 after completing five seasons with Arizona State. In his career with the Sun Devils, Richardson played in 35 games, snaring 103 passes for 1523 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also returned both punts and kickoffs, where he returned three (two punts, one kickoff) for touchdowns in his last two seasons.
CAMP NOTES: The team completed its first week of practice today with a morning practice at Gene Autry Park. They will scrimmage Los Angeles tomorrow at noon at the USAirways Center. Admission is free, and doors will open at 11:00am.
The 2008 Arizona Rattlers kickoff their 17th season in March, and have guaranteed their season ticket holders a trip to the playoffs. Season tickets, group tickets and premium single game tickets can be purchased by calling 602-379-2333.
