River City Rascals News Release

O'FALLON, MO - The River City Rascals have announced the hiring of a new field manager for the 2009 season.

Chad Parker, formally an associate scout of the Atlanta Braves, has been named the new manager of the Rascals. Parker will begin his duties immediately, joining the front office staff during the 2008-2009 off season.

"I'm excited to have Chad Parker as a part of the Rascal's organization. His character off the field coupled with pure grit and determination on the field will provide our club with great leadership in 2009, I know Chad is ready to put a product on the field that our fans will be proud of." General Manager Jamie Toole said.

Parker worked most recently for the Braves organization as a scout. In 2007, he served as the manager and director of operations for the Macon Music of the then Independent South Coast League. During the 2007 campaign, three members of Parker's Music were signed by Major League organizations.

>From 2001-2006, Parker was the head baseball coach of Brewton-Parker College of the NAIA and was the 2004 Georgia Coach of the Year.

"I want to thank Jamie and Steve [Malliet] for having the confidence in me to bring me to River City," Parker said. "Pitching and defense is how we will win games. When you don't have to score as many runs to win ball games, it obviously makes it easier on the offense because it's not so easy to hit the three-run home run against good pitching."

Parker and his wife Beth have four children; Taylor, 16, Sydney, 11, Jake, 5, and Luke, 2, will make the trip from their current residence in Macon, Georgia to O'Fallon, Missouri.

The River City Rascals are members of the Independent Frontier League and can be contacted at (636) 240-BATS.
