Raptors sign former Georgetown star WR Luke McArdle
March 15, 2005 - arenafootball2 (af2) News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. â The Tennessee Valley Raptors will have another offensive threat when they open the United Indoor Football season Saturday night in Evansville, IN.
Raptors coach Dick Adams has signed former Georgetown wide receiver Luke McArdle, an All-Patriot League selection who set a single-season school record for receiving yards during his 2003 senior campaign.
"Luke has good speed and he runs decent routes,'' Adams said. "He had a great college career and he catches the ball like he's been playing professionally for a year or two."
McArdle (6-foot-1, 180) had 63 catches for a Hoya-record 1,118 yards to go along with 12 touchdowns in 2003. He also led the nation with 184.6 all-purpose yards a game.
During his four-year career at Georgetown, McArdle caught 153 passes for 2,462 yards and 22 touchdowns, averaged 22.9 yards on kickoff returns and 10.6 on punt returns.
Practice Report: Adams set his 30-man roster Monday and says he's starting to feel more and more comfortable as his team heads into Saturday's 7 p.m. kickoff against the Bluecats at Roberts Stadium.
Former Alabama A&M quarterback Neal Lindsey is currently listed ahead of newcomer Mike Scipione on the depth chart, but both players have looked impressive in leading the offense.
"We're throwing the football and running the ball relatively well,'' Adams said. "The quarterbacks are getting a little more confident in what they're seeing. The defense has fallen down a little bit the last couple of days but that all has to do with trying to get things polished."
Fan Day set for March 24: Tennessee Valley will host Raptors Fan Day on March 24 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the South Hall of the VBC. Fans can pick up and purchase season tickets, meet the players, coaches and staff, and find out how to join the Raptors Booster Club.
Single-game tickets on sale: Single-game tickets for the Raptors' eight home games go on sale Monday, March 14. Ticket prices are $27, $17, and $12 with an additional $1 facility charge to each ticket. For more information call 256-551-3240.
