
Raptors defeat Freedom, 49-36

After going 3-1 on a three-game homestand, the Rock River Raptors boarded tbe bus and traveled east to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a rare Friday night non-division game againt the Freedom. After watching Fort Wayne grab a 22-13 first half lead, the Raptors scored the first 21 points of the second half and went on to to a 49-36 win over the Freedom. With the win, the Raptors are now on a two-game winning streak and are now 5-3 while the Freedom suffer their fifth straight loss and are now 3-5. It was the Rock River defense that rose to the occasion in the second half. Interceptions by linebackers Mike Davis and Ty Myers proved to be key plays. Myers returned his interception 13 yards for a touchdown to give the Raptors a 49-29 lead. Fort Wayne jumped out to a 12-0 first quarter lead on two field goals from Doug Daniel and a 45 yard touchdown pass from Bill Skelton to newly signed receiver Johnell Wyatte. A 43-yard field goal by Rock River's Dillon Pieffer put the Raptors on the scoreboard and cut the Freedom lead to 12-3. Another Daniel field goal pused the Freedom lead to 15-3. A 19-yard scoring pass from Ryan Aulenbacher to Ade Adeyemo and another Pieffer field goal helped the Raptors cut the Freedom lead to 22-13. Aulenbacher was making his first start of the season in place of Ben Sankey, who sat out of the game with a shoulder. Aulenbacher added three more touchdown passes in the third and fourth quarter as he found Luke McArdle for a five yard pass and Jeremiah Thompson for touchdown grabs of 10 and eight yards. Aulenbacher would throw his fifth touchdown pass of the game as he hit Tyrece Butler with a 19-yard scoring strike. Aulenbacher ende his first start in a Raptors uniform completing 21 of 36 passes for 217 yards and one interception to go along with the five touchdown passes. McArdle and Thompson each caught six passes from Aulenbacher. McArdle had 74 yards while Thompson had 55 yards receiving. Adeyemo caught four passes for 52 yard. Davis had seven-point-five tackles to lead the Raptors defense.
