EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats head off to play division rival Lexington this Saturday night at Rupp Arena. The BlueCats (2-4) are coming off a 37-13 victory over the Peoria Rough Riders last weekend while the Lexington Horsemen (6-0) defeated the Sioux City Bandits 30-20. Saturday's game between the BlueCats and Horsemen can be heard live on ESPN Radio 94.9 in Evansville with Will Clark and Jimmie Ford on the call.
The BlueCats defense ranks 2nd in the UIF in rushing defense (52.7 ypg) and 4th in total defense (193.7). Linebacker John Winchester will look to continue his record setting pace as he continues to lead the BlueCats and the entire league in tackles per game (9.6) and tackles for loss (10.5). He's coming off his fourth UIF Defensive Player of the Week honorable mention distinction this season. He already holds the team records for tackles in a single game (14) and tackles for loss in a single game (4). Currently, he's on pace to shatter the league record for tackles in a single season, set last season by BlueCats safety Connie Brown.
The BlueCats offense has been led by versatile running back, Dale Jennings. Last week Jennings had his best performance so far this season rushing for 45 yards in the win over Peoria. He leads the team in rushing with 158 yards this season and ranks 4th in the league with 66 points and 11 touchdowns. In 2006, he's seen time at running back, wide receiver, kick returner, and at cornerback.
Wide Receiver Sean Bennett leads the team in receiving with 25 receptions for 372 yards and 4 touchdowns. He ranks 5th in the league in receiving yards and receptions per game.
