Raptors add six players as playoff roster deadline falls

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Tennessee Valley Raptors coach Dick Adams signed six new players as Thursday afternoon's United Indoor Football playoff roster deadline fell.

Linemen David Aubrey, Corey Haynes and Derric Coakley, fullback/linebacker Kenneth Nevel and wide receiver/defensive backs T.J. Simmons and Dominique Morris all are expected to be in uniform when the Raptors (6-8) host the Omaha Beef (8-6) on Saturday night at the Von Braun Center.

It's AUSA Military Heroes/Golf Umbrella Night with $5 tickets available for Army and civilian employees of Redstone Arsenal and 60-inch golf umbrellas going to the first 1,500 men 18 and over.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 and the game will be broadcast on 730-AM WUMP.

"We've dealt with injuries as of late and we had to get some more kids in here,'' said Adams, whose team has won three of four games and wrapped up a playoff spot with Saturday's 33-12 home victory over Tupelo.

"Haynes and Aubrey will help us on offense and the big guys will give us a little more strength up front.

Coakley (6-0, 270) is an eight-year veteran out of Wayne State who played in the Arena Football League. Haynes (6-6-4, 330) and Aubrey (6-3, 320) were standouts at South Carolina State.

Nevels (6-1, 225) played at Cumberland University in Tennessee, while Morris (5-11, 200) played at Vanderbilt and Simmons (6-3, 215) at UAB.
