
Rapoport Powers Honolulu Over CaneFires

Honolulu right fielder Jim Rapoport launched a three-run home run over the right field fence in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie, and the Sharks held on for the 7-3 victory over visiting West Oahu this afternoon at Honolulu's Les Murakami Stadium.
The Sharks (5-2-1) notched 10 hits on the day, and Rapoport finished 2-3 with four RBIs and two runs. Teammate Michael Taylor returned to the starting lineup after nursing a sore leg, and collected three base hits including a double.
Four Honolulu pitchers combined to allow three runs, two of which were earned, on five hits along with seven strikeouts. Reliever Andy Graham (1-0) earned the victory after tossing a scoreless fourth inning and striking out two, and Scott Shaw held the CaneFires to one run on two hits through 3 2/3 innings.
West Oahu (5-3) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first, but would not score again until pushing two runs across in the eighth frame. Right fielder Caleb Gindl led the way with three of the squads' five base hits, including a double, and drove in two.
CaneFires starter Sean Gleason (1-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits through four frames.
Both squads have scheduled days off on Monday, and return to action Tuesday.
