Watertown Rapids News Release

The Watertown Rapids are approaching their final 12 games in the regular season, with each game carrying high importance as the playoff race remains tight. The Rapids will first take part in the PGCBL All-Star game in Elmira, NY on Wednesday the 18th.

In case you missed it, Watertown will have eight players representing the team, competing as members of the West All-Stars. With these eight selections, the Rapids will be sending the most players from any team. The players will take part in scout day activities Wednesday morning, before taking batting practice in the afternoon. Outfielder Alex Mumme will represent Watertown in the home run derby starting at 7:00pm. The All-Star game will begin around 7:30pm.

After the All-Star break, the Rapids return home Friday night to face divisional foe, Adirondack TrailBlazers for Military Appreciation Night. Rapids players will be wearing special military jerseys that night. Jerseys will be available to reserve starting Thursday for $50. Jerseys that aren't pre-sold will be auctioned off during the game Friday night. There will be military vehicles at the game and post-game FIREWORKS.

Entering the All-Star break, the Rapids are tied for second place with the Utica Blue Sox, both two and a half games behind Mohawk Valley. Nine of the remaining 12 games are against divisional opponents.
