Rapids Make Two Roster Moves

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, July 28, 2009) - The Colorado Rapids announced two roster moves today, as the team prepares to host the defending MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew this Saturday, August 1 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park at 7:30 pm MT.

The Rapids have signed Scottish midfielder Jamie Smith. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In another roster move, Colorado waived midfielder Terry Cooke.

Smith joins the Rapids following an extensive professional career abroad. Smith's career began in Scotland with Celtic FC followed by stints with Dutch side ADO Den Haag and most recently Scottish Premier League club Aberdeen FC. Touted as a winger with a direct style, Smith has also earned two Scottish National Team caps.

Cooke leaves the Rapids following five seasons in Colorado where he appeared in 106 games, scored four goals and registered 34 assists.
