Colorado Rapids News Release

RAPIDS VS CHIVAS ALL-TIME: The Colorado Rapids own a 2-0 record against CD Chivas USA in the two teams' short history. The Rapids defeated Chivas USA 2-1 at home on May 14 and 3-1 at the Home Depot Center on June 18.

CONTAINING CUNNINGHAM: Chivas USA will be looking to keep Jeff Cunningham off the scoreboard for the first time when playing against the United States international. Cunningham has scored four of the Black and Blue's five goals against the US version of the Mexican side in their two previous meetings.

FOURTH TRIP TO SO-CAL: Saturday's match marks the fourth and final regular season road trip to the Home Depot Center for the Mile High Club. Colorado is 1-2-0 in the previous three matches in Carson.

RESERVE SEASON ENDING: The Rapids Reserves will play in their final road game of their inaugural season on Sunday against the Chivas USA reserves. Heading into the match, the Rapids Reserves hold a record of 3-4-2, including a 2-1 victory over the Chivas Reserves on May 15 in Colorado. The final match will be on Sunday Oct. 2 against the Real Salt Lake reserve squad at the Rapids Westminster training facility.

PLANNING FOR THE PLAYOFFS: The Rapids are just one point away from clinching a spot in the 2005 MLS Cup Playoffs. The Black and Blue's magic number currently is down to 1 (one). If Colorado wins or ties at Chivas, or if Salt Lake loses or ties vs. Columbus on Saturday, the Rapids will be playoff-bound for the fourth straight season, tying a club record.

A NIGHT OF FIRSTS: Goalkeeper Byron Foss started his first-ever MLS game on Wednesday against Real Salt Lake and recorded both his first shutout and win. Foss also was named Rapids Man of the Match for the first time in his career. Dedi Ben-Dayan also scored the first goal of his MLS Career.
