Colorado Rapids News Release

The Colorado Rapids own 2-0 record against CD Chivas USA in the two team's short history. The Rapids defeated Chivas USA 2-1 at home on May 14 and 3-1 in the Home Depot Center on June 18.

Chivas USA will be looking to keep Jeff Cunningham of the scoreboard for the first time when playing against the United States international. Cunningham has scored four of the Black and Blue's five goals against the US version of the Mexican side in the two previous matches.

Saturday's match marks the forth and final regular season road trip to the Home Depot Center for the Mile High Club. Colorado is 1-2 in the previous three matches in the Los Angeles area.

The Rapids reserves will play in their final road game of their inaugural season on Sunday against the Chivas USA reserves. Heading into the match the Rapids reserves hold a record of 3-4-2 including a 2-1 victory over the Chivas reserves on May 15 in Colorado. The final match will be on Sunday Oct. 2 against the Real Salt Lake reserves at the Rapids Westminster training facility.

The Rapids are just one point away from clinching a spot in the 2005 MLS Cup Playoffs. The Black and Blue's magic number currently is down to 1 (one). If Colorado wins or ties at Chivas or Real loses or ties vs. Columbus on Saturady the Rapids will be playoff bound for the fourth straight seson, tying a club record.

Goalkeeper Byron Foss started his first ever MLS game on Wednesday against Real Salt Lake and recorded his first shutout and win. Dedi Ben Dayan also scored the first goal of his MLS Career.
