
Rangers Rally to beat Wichita Falls

Blaine, Minn. - The Marquette Rangers Tier II Junior hockey team rallied for three goals in the final 3:26 of the third period against Wichita Falls (Texas) at the North American Hockey League Showcase Friday afternoon; winning by a final of 4-2.
With the win, Marquette improves to 2-1 on the season, the Wildcats fall to 1-1-1 with the loss.
"We played well the whole game I thought," Rangers head coach Kenny Miller said. "It was when we started moving the puck around and involving all five guys on the ice that we started scoring goals. A lot of good things happened today, and we'll look to improve on those things even more as we wrap up the tournament tomorrow."

Wichita Falls opened the scoring at the 16:42 mark of the first period when Brian Sheehan beat Rangers goaltender Kevin Kissaw with an assist given to the Wildcats Chris Rial.
The Rangers would get the equalizer in the second when Andrew Kolb (Toledo, Ohio) scored his third goal for Marquette in as many games, beating the Wildcats Brian Phillips. Brent Bain picked up the lone assist on the goal.
After Wichita Falls took a 2-1 lead at 9:32 of the third, the Rangers would reel of three straight for the win.
Hancock's Tanner Kero tied the game at 16:34 with assists to Garrett Ladd and Nate Taurence. Then it was Ladd lighting the lamp 52 seconds later with the lone assist given to Kero. Marquette native Collin Saint-Onge would add an empty net goal at 19:42 to ice the game for the Rangers.
Phillips stopped 18 of 21 Rangers shots in the game, while Kissaw made 48 saves on 50 efforts by the Wildcats.
"Kevin's our rock," Miller added. "He gives us a chance to win every time we step out onto the ice. If we continue to improve up front like we are, we'll be just fine as we get into the regular season."
