Rangers Fall 7-5 To Spitfires

The Windsor Spitfires skated to a 7-5 win that would halt the Kitchener Rangers from picking up a Western Conference Series sweep.

Windsor scored three unanswered goals in the first period to take a 3-0 lead over the Rangers. Scott Timmins opened up scoring in the game at 3:31. Zack Kassian capitalized on the power play midway through the period and Greg Nemisz marked his second goal of the playoffs with 1:17 left in the period.

Jeff Skinner deflected a Ryan Murphy shot past Windsor netminder Philipp Grubauer just 23-seconds in to the second period to make it 3-1. Kassian replied with his second power play goal of the game to restore the Spitfires three goal advantage by 18:13.

Kitchener's Matt Tipoff scored early in the third period to once again bring the Rangers within two goals of the Spitfires (4-2). Skinner netted his second of the game, a hard shot to the top corner of the Windsor goal at 11:20 to make it a one-goal-game. 20-seconds later, Tipoff found Jason Akeson alone in the slot and Akeson would tie the game 4-4. The Spitfires Adam Henrique retaliated to make it 5-4.

Chris MacKinnon quickly tied the game 5-5 after scoring his seventh goal of the playoffs at 17:08. The Spitfires' Taylor Hall answered back with his first goal of the game at 18:02 to put Windsor back in the lead at 6-5. Adam Henrique scored an empty net insurance goal at 19:46 to end the game at 7-5.

The Rangers travel to Windsor Thursday, April 22nd for game five of the Western Conference Finals at 7:05pm.

Game 6 (Friday, April 23 - 7:30pm) if necessary: All tickets will go on sale at 8am on Friday, April 23rd game day.

Unclaimed season tickets will go on sale at 5pm on Friday, April 23rd to the general public.
