Marquette Rangers News Release

Wyandotte - The Marquette Rangers are now just two points out of first place in the North American Hockey League North Division race, beating Motor City in a rare Monday matinee at Yack Arena in downstate Wyandotte by a final of 4 - 1.

With a win Tuesday evening, the Rangers can catch Traverse City for the top spot in the division.

Marquette used a four goal outburst in the second period to secure their 27th win of the year. 27 wins in a season is a new Rangers record for team victories; the Rangers have 15 games remaining on the season.

Andrew Kolb scored the first two goals of the game for the Rangers, the first at 9:05 on the power play from Nate Taurence and Brent Bain. Bain and Josh Bussell would assist on Kolb's second goal four and a half minutes later.

The Rangers made it 3 - 0 when Bain scored from Kolb with forty seven seconds remaining in the period on another power play effort beating Motor City goaltender Jason Torf. The Rangers finished the afternoon two for seven with the man advantage, Motor City was one for three on the power play.

Garrett Ladd ended the scoring for Marquette as time expired in the second period, beating Torf with no time on the clock. After a brief deliberation at the scorer's table the officials agreed that the puck did indeed go in the net before the end of the period; and the Rangers left the ice with a four goal advantage.

Motor City's Eric Millisor scored the lone goal for the Metal Jackets midway through the third period when he beat Lukas Hafner on a power play effort at 8:04.

Hafner finished the game with 43 saves on 44 Motor City shots, while Torf faced 28 shots, stopping 24.

Tuesday evening's game from Wyandotte will be available with streaming video and audio through the teams' website www.marquetterangers.com. Face off Tuesday is set for 7:30 PM.
