Rangers Agree To Terms With Forward Tomas Zaborsky

New York, June 2, 2008 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Tomas Zaborsky.

Zaborsky, 20, skated in 68 games with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) this season, registering 31 goals and 39 assists for 70 points, along with 42 penalty minutes. He established career-highs in games played (68), goals (31), assists (39), and points (72). He also ranked third on the team in goals, assists and points. Zaborsky recorded a career-high, 17 multiple-point games this season, including a career-high, four points (two goals and two assists) on January 12 at Sault Ste. Marie. He also recorded two goals and one assist for three points in four post-season contests for Saginaw this season. In addition, he skated in two games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL), collecting an assist in his professional debut on April 5 at Portland.

The 6-1, 180-pound forward has skated in 127 career OHL games with the Saginaw Spirit, recording 50 goals and 63 assists for 113 points, along with 60 penalty minutes. In 2006-07, Zaborsky ranked second on the team among rookies in goals (19), assists (24) and points (43). Additionally, he has appeared in 10 playoff games with Saginaw, registering three goals and three assists for six points, along with six penalty minutes.

The native of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia was the Rangers' fifth round choice, 137th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
