
Rampage Training Camp opens Monday

The Grand Rapids Rampage embark on their seventh Arena Football training camp on Monday, January 19 at the Soccer Spot in Kentwood. The Rampage kickoff their season on Sunday, February 8 when they travel to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Rush at Allstate Arena - the game will be televised nationally on NBC.
During training camp the Rampage will practice twice a day. The first session 8:15-9:45 AM and the second session 10:30 AM-noon. The Rampage will not practice on Sundays during camp that lasts from January 19-31.
The 2004 Rampage roster currently consists of 36 players, nine from last year's team including offensive specialist Steve Smith who grabbed 27 touchdowns in 2003. Also, back is 2003 leading rusher Chris Avery, leading tackler Cecil Doggette, interception leader Mark Ricks and leading sacker Israel Raybon.
Among the new faces donning Rampage uniforms in 2004 are veteran quarterbacks Jeff Loots and Robert Hall; former All-Rookie kicker Nick Gatto and former Rampage players Thomas Bailey.
All Rampage practices are open to the media and public. The team will have two inter-squad scrimmages on Saturday, January 24 and Saturday, January 31 at the Soccer Spot - times have not been set yet. On Monday, January 26, the Rampage will travel to Detroit for a scrimmage against the Indiana Firebirds at The Palace of Auburn Hills from 1-3 PM.
The team will cut its roster from 36 to 24 on Sunday, February 1 and begin preparation for their season opener in the Windy City the following Sunday (Feb. 8) against the Chicago Rush at 3:00 PM EST - the game will be televised across the nation on NBC.
