October 12, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League will hold an open player tryout here on Nov. 11. Ron Selesky, Rampage defensive coordinator and director of player personnel, will be on hand to conduct the tryout, Grand Rapids' first of the season.

"Having coached in Birmingham the past two seasons, I am very aware of the level of talent in the southeastern United States, particularly in the state of Alabama," said Selesky, the former head coach of the arenafootball2's Alabama Steeldogs. "Every year teams seem to find that 'diamond in the rough' at their tryout camps, and I am excited about the possibilities of discovering that type of player for the Rampage in Birmingham."

The tryout, which will be held at the Sports Blast indoor sports facility located on highway 280, will consist of combine-type testing (40-yard dash, pro agility shuttle, standing long jump, etc.) as well as position specific technique drills. Registration will begin promptly at 4 p.m. (CST), and the tryout will take place from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Registration fee per players is $50 cash, and is non-refundable. Players are responsible for their own transportation to and from the tryout, as well as lodging if they are traveling from outside of the local area. Sports Blast is a traditional Astroturf facility, so players should bring appropriate footwear (no cleats or spikes).
